
Come to our Knit Night at the Dalriada
In preparation for Yarn Bombing the allotments for our Open Day, we are holding a Knit Night at the Dalriada in Portobello on Wednesday 2nd May from 7-9 pm. We will have some wool, needles and patterns to give away. Anyone can take part. You can knit or crochet anything you'd like, to decorate a plot, a tree, a shed etc. Our Open Day, on Sunday 5th August, is very popular and the Yarn Bomb will add an extra colourful, woolly experience for visitors to enjoy. For this years Open Day on 5th August we want to transform the place! We're inviting local knitters and knitting groups to pick up their needles and yarn bomb the allotments. Allotment Open Day 2017
A big thank you to everyone who contributed to this year's Open Day. What a fantastic day it was - we even had a coach load of visitors from Cumbernauld, which took the visitors total to 110! The teas and cakes were excellent, there was an impressive range of home grown produce, and some great live music creating a welcoming atmosphere. Allotments Open Day - Sunday 6th August 2017
This year's Open Day is fast approaching and we're looking forward to opening our plots to the public. After the success of last year's event, this year is set to be even better! There will be teas and home baking, produce and plants for sale, and music from plot holders to create a welcoming atmosphere. Community Plot a great local asset
Edinburgh City Mission, Fresh Start and Wilson Memorial Church had a fabulous pick and cook session last week. They invited some families who have needed help from the basics bank this year and everyone really enjoyed the experience. #News

Pop-up cafe cheque presented to Basics Bank
We welcome Zoe Marshall from Basics Bank to the allotments. Zoe has taken one of the community plots which will be worked by volunteers with the help of Sid Stewart from Fresh Start. Zoe, seen here with Sid and Yvonne Marsden, is receiving a cheque for £253.60 from our treasurer Ron Paddock, the amount raised at our community pop-up cafe in February. #News

Fresh Start Community Plot - Sid Stewart
Sid is working with Fresh Start as our Gardener/Handyman helping to grow produce in our two allotments: Craigmillar and Craigentinny Telferton. He will be at the Craigentinny Telferton allotment on the mornings of Monday and Wednesday and all day on a Tuesday and Thursday so please do come and say hello. Allotment Pop-up Cafe
Saturday 25th February saw our first pop up cafe at Wilson Memorial Church with soup made from home grown allotment produce by The Real Junk Food Project, bread donated by Breadshare and home made chutneys and cakes. We served soup to 120 people from the local area and collected £253.60 in donations for our local Basics Bank.
