Off to a Fresh Start with a Neighbourhood Partnership Grant!

Fresh Start, an Edinburgh based charity, took on a neglected patch of the allotments which was getting overgrown. To help them achieve their aim of creating an accessible growing space, we applied to the City of Edinburgh Council for a Neighbourhood Partnership Community Grant.

We were awarded £1,363 to create raised beds, paths and to purchase a shed for storage and shelter. Fresh Start worked alongside plot holders and corporate volunteers to clear the site and do the hard work.

The plot will help to meet local priorities of improving health and well-being, by delivering an opportunity for physical activity, healthy eating and being socially active.

Fresh Start's clients can work alongside current plot holders, learn about growing, cooking and healthy eating. Any excess produce is donated to our local foodbank across the road from the allotments at Wilson Memorial Church.

You can see the progress and improvement below.
